What is the difference between Alias and a Mailing List?

An Alias is usually a local forward to a single POP3 user account. For example, "jsmith" could be an alias for "jsmith@mydomain.com".

A mailing list is a recipient name that forwards to multiple users and may also have functionality that allows for archiving, managing subscribers and other features.

The current version of our mail system allows for an alias name to deliver to multiple accounts, so an alias can actually be used as a simple mailing list.
