Why can't I login to the POP3 server when using Norton Anti-Virus?

Norton Anti-Virus uses the Account Name field to store both the name of your POP3 user account, as well as the DNS name of the mail server. Your account name should be setup so it follows the format:

Account Name: me@mydomain.com/mail.mydomain.com

The first part (me@mydomain.com) is your POP3 username and the second part (mail.mydomain.com) is your mail server DNS name.
